What a gorgeous evening for Adam and Maeve’s engagement session. We met in the Kickapoo Valley Nature reserve, which was just perfect. As I told Adam and Maeve, when I see light like this and I’m not taking pictures, I get sort of anxious feeling. So, thank goodness I had a session! Ha.

Saturday’s wedding was so lovely. I’m so happy that Miles and Sarah asked me to photograph their wedding. Two really great families and lots of other great vendors make for a great day.

I say no more rain on Saturdays from here on out, ok? The weather held out until right when we arrived at the reception, which was perfect. We could see the dark clouds rolling in across the river.

So, what a great couple, and a fun wedding party! I believe Tony and Brittany picked their date based on my availability and the Omni Center’s…I couldn’t get a better compliment. I am so honored to document each and every wedding. I am often told I must have a lot of patience (etc, etc) to do what I do, but I couldn’t imagine a better job.

We had been planning on going to Riverside, but then remembered that the Fitness Festival was going on there. Tony and Brittany were so laid back, deciding at the last-minute to go to the Lake Onalaska overlook.

I usually post my wedding sneak peaks first, but I need a little bit of extra time. So, I’ll let Rhett and Katrina see their engagement sneak first from Friday night. They picked a couple of great locations in La Crosse, and they were pretty cute, always talking to each other and smiley.

We walked around a little with this letter R and I felt like I was on a Sesame Street skit…this engagement session brought to you by the letter R.

Such a fun idea to go to the Logger’s field, and they were so great to let us shoot there.

This year, I have been much more deliberate about my “working” weekends and my “off” weekends. This past weekend was one of my off weekends. No wedding sneak peak this week, but I have lots of personal pictures to share.

I could have also titled this post: I love my new cameras. I love our yard. The End.

Saturday was really the most perfect, spring day to get married, and an excellent day to drive to Windsor, WI, right outside of Madison for Ryan and Hilary’s wedding. Hilary is Brittany’s cousin (one of my second shooters). I don’t travel outside of La Crosse too often, but when I do, I welcome the opportunity for new places to shoot, and the Lake Windsor golf club was gorgeous! Ryan and Hilary, thank you for asking me to photograph your day.

I got to ride along on the limo bus, which I very rarely do, but because everything was at Lake Windsor, the bus was just for fun. It was a little bit dangerous though, I didn’t know I’d have to protect my camera from flying beer cans.

There was one causality (luckily, not one of my new cameras).

Everything is shiny new

All of a sudden, everything is brand new here. We have a new house that everyday we are so happy and thankful we were able to move to.

I also bought, um, 2 new cameras. Yes, two. When I got the package from UPS, Max asked if it was for him. I said, “No, it’s my new cameras!” He said, “Mommy, how many cameras do you have now?” I asked him how many Thomas trains he had. I will be selling my old Canon 5Ds soon, so stay tuned. If you are interested in them, let me know.

Besides the fact that it was just time to make an upgrade, the following picture is one of the many reasons why the Canon 5D mark III is so great.

This picture was the very first picture that I took. You can even see the shipping box to the left. I was so excited, I just snapped a picture, and not until later did I realize that I wouldn’t have even been able to take this shot with my old camera. See how Max is standing in front of a window? With my old camera, I would have sat there trying to focus, focus, focus, and it wouldn’t have worked. With my new camera, it didn’t even it “stutter.” Click, and I got a great picture. That’s how it should be!

These pictures were all taken with the new camera.

My mom will love to see that one on the blog.

Besides the new house and the new camera, have you noticed this incredible spring? We have a crab apple tree in our yard that I have been fully documenting.

With spring here, that means a new wedding season is here, as well. I have my first wedding of 2012 tomorrow. I have to say, I’m rather ecstatic to start. I feel refreshed. I feel ready to start brand new. Come back next week to see the sneak peak!
